Hi! My name is Lije, and I'm an artist and educator based between the Bay Area and Brooklyn. I primarily teach digital 3D, animation, and game design across various university programs and workshops.
In my artistic practice, I enjoy exploring the power of cute, examining how soft aesthetics can function as tools of persuasion, subversion, and surprise. Fascinated by the historical use of cute imagery in propaganda and soft power, I leverage disarming visuals in my digital work to subvert audience expectations. I am also incredibly passionate about game design and the potential games have as tools for storytelling, education, and emotional connection.
Beyond the classroom, I am deeply invested in the independent animation community. I host Boiled Over, a podcast where I interview global animators about their creative processes, and I frequently participate in group screenings and speaker series.
